Wild Heart Productions, headed by Anna Van der Wee (producer/director) and based in Belgium, has produced for over 20 years award winning, relevant and compelling documentaries having played in theatres and bought by broadcasters from around the world.

Wild Heart’s roster of long format documentaries is wide and varied: from historical to poetic arts documentaries, from intimate social issues to powerful political films.

Wild Heart Productions is currently finalising ‘Touching Infinity’ the feature length documentary of Griet Teck, about life when the end is in view.

Wild Heart’s broadcast credits include ‘Zeno, l’insoumis’ 2019 directed by Françoise Levie based on the correspondence between Marguerite Yourcenar and André Delvaux. Anna and Vincent’, 2015, directed by Francoise Levie, a film on Anna Boch, the Belgian painter who bought the only painting that Vincent Van Gogh sold during his lifetime, ‘feel my love’, 2014, Griet Teck’s heartbreaking documentary on people, people living with dementia, that premiered in Rotterdam at IFFR, and stole the public’s heart, the Oscar nominated The Gatekeepers, 2012, directed by Dror Moreh, coproduced by Films du Poisson France and Cinephil, Israel. For the first time ever, 7 former leaders of Shin Bet, Israel’s FBI speak openly.

Panda Farnana, a controversial Congolese, 2011, directed by Francoise Levie, coproduced by Memento Production, an historical documentary on the first Congolese intellectual in Belgium. Lone Twin/Pas de Deux, 2011, directed by Anna Van der Wee, co-produced by Storyline Entertainment, Canada, a film that draws you deep into the world of twins.

Panamareko. The Magic of Art, 2004, directed by Francoise Levie and Anna Van der Wee, coproduced by Sofidoc, a poetic tale on one of Belgium’s most important contemporary artists. Little Figures, 2003, an experimental short documentary directed by Sarah Vanaght, on 3 statues, 3 children, an imaginary conversation. The man who wanted to classify the world, directed by Francoise Levie, coproduced by Sofidoc, 2002, a historical investigative documentary about the man who was the founder of internet. Wild Heart was the Belgian producer of Seeing is Believing, 2002, directed by Katerina Cizek and Peter Wintonic on the use of camcorders in humanitarian conflicts, from Rodney King to Osama bin Laden, produced by Necessary Illusions, Canada.

In search of the African Queen, directed by Katerina Cizek and Catherine Bainbridge, 2000, an investigative documentary about the clandestine journey of 190 Sri Lankan Tamils seeking asylum in the industrialized world. Bletzi, Bletzi, 1997, directed by Lut Vandekeybus, an inside look into the world of Islam, filmed in Morocco. The dead are alive, Rwanda, an eyewitness, directed by Anna Van der Wee, based on the diary of award winning journalist Els De Temmerman, 1996, about the ’94 genocide in Rwanda. Power of the North, directed by Anna Van der Wee and Catherine Bainbridge, 1995, about the mega dam Quebecois wanted to build to power Europe and the USA and how the Cree needed to stop it.

Wild Heart Productions has also ran a monthly television magazine about Europe’s role in the world, called CONTACT Europe produced in association with UK-based World Wide Pictures for the European Commission. The magazine was distributed to broadcasters in 170 countries to an estimated audience of 300 million and on airlines as part of the in-flight entertainment.

Wild Heart Productions has won numerous awards for its outstanding documentaries. Some of these include the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco Festival 1996, the Silver Spire at The New York Festivals 1997, Gemini nomination for Scriptwriting category 1997, the Czech Golden Lion Award in 1998 and the ECHO Humanitarian Award in 1998, best edit at Festival Art Film, Rome in 2006.
